Members
The Board is composed of seven
members appointed by the House of Peoples’ Representatives
upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister and
is accountable to the House of People’s Representatives.
Board members are appointed on the basis of their
allegiance to the Constitution, their lack of party
political affiliations and their professional competencies.
The Chairman of the board is appointed by the House
of Peoples’ Representatives and is responsible
for the overall supervision of the activities of the
Secretariat of the Board.
The Vice-Chairman of the Board is elected from among
it members and discharges the duties of the Chairman
in his absence.
The Board has a Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive
and a Deputy Chief Executive, both selected on the
basis of their experience and ability. They are also
appointed by the House of Peoples’ Representatives
upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The
Chief Executive of the Secretariat of the Board is
a non-voting member and Secretary of the Board.
Board members are independent, non-partisan and professional
in the exercise of their duties.
Board decisions are made by majority vote; in the
case of a tie, the Chairman has a casting vote. The
Board meets on a weekly basis and is in quorum with
four members.
