Provisional Results for Nine Constituencies in Addis Ababa Announced

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia today released provisional results for nine constituencies in last Sunday’s election for the 547-seat House of People’s Representatives (HPR).

The Board has confirmed that the following people have been elected to the HPR in nine constituencies of the Addis Ababa City Administration:

Wereda 3: Derza Dawana Dagero (CUD) Votes: 24,728 (70.95%)

Wereda 4: Dr Tadeyos Bogale Degefa (CUD) Votes: 48,346 (83.48%)

Wereda 12/13: Dr. Mulualem Tarekegn Feleke (CUD) Votes: 48,346 (80.96%)

Wereda 16: Asrat Tase Sebisibe (CUD) Votes: 27,683 (82.55%)

Wereda 19: Dr Shimelis Tekletsadik Mekuria (CUD) Votes: 51,098 (80.42%)

Wereda 20: Kifele Tigeneh Abate (CUD) Votes: 25,279 (89.75%)

Wereda 21/22: Ledetu Ayalew Miheretu (CUD) Votes: 38,069 (75.47%)

Wereda 23: Hailu Shawile Gizaw (CUD) Votes: 37,870 (78.99%)

Wereda 2/14: Fetene Teshome Beyene (CUD) Votes: 31,529 (75.94%)

Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Board, Tesfaye Mengesha, confirmed the results today. He said further results will be issued in the coming days.

All results are as published by Constituency Electoral Offices and may be subject to change before formal approval by the Board on 8 June 2005. These results do not include votes from Higher Education Institutions, which will be added at the Board's headquarters.

Results are posted in the pressroom of the Board’s headquarters in Addis Ababa.
